Party like it’s 1984

So Rachel’s been wanting me to watch Footloose with her because I had never seen it (I know, how dare me).  We decided to have an 80s night w/ costumes, dancing, and Kevin Bacon!!  It was great :)  We also decided to craft some of course! Luke is in a bowling league on Tuesdays (the 80s night) but this particular Tuesday he ended super early and came to party with us.  This is his version of “crafting”.After Footloose, Drew came home and we decided to make it a double header with Away We Go, both really funny and awkward :)

Baby Abby!

Our friends Kyle & Sara welcomed their beautiful baby girl Abby a couple of weeks ago on Monday, Sept. 21!  She is such a cutie…check out more fun pics at their blog. Sara was exactly 3 months ahead of me…so not too long until our little guy is here!

Army 10-Mile Run

A week ago we headed up to D.C. for the Army 10-Miler.  Luke ran it along with our friends Sam, James & Sherrie.  I was signed up to run, but you know I wouldn’t make it being 7 months preggo.

Here’s the troopers after the race waiting for our metro to arrive to take us (I mean them) to some showers! Sam & Chels on the metro Us w/ the Ramseys Sherrie & me….It’s funny to think that I used to run with Sherrie in Austin and now she runs 10-milers all the time and started her own personal training business!!  Check out the website for Essentials Fitness.  I’ll probably be calling her for a “how to get back into shape after kiddo” routine :) Oh and Sherrie found an EXCELLENT mexican food restaurant for us to try after the race….Uncle Julios!  We’re just sad it’s 2.5 hours from our house :(  After everyone else left, we headed back to the city to meet up with our Austin buddy Vu that was on vaca for a couple of days!  He told us about this crazy program he’s involved in where you couch surf for your “hotels” when vacationing.  It sounded pretty fun!On the way home, Luke and I decided to rock out to 90s music…especially old school Destiny Child.  It was awesome!   It was a really fun weekend!  And maybe you’re wondering the results of the race…well Luke & Sam finished in the top quarter (of 21,000 something people), they averaged an 8:11 mile…better than I could do for sure!!  Way to go team!

7 months!

Yesterday was the 7 month mark…wow, that’s crazy (I seem to say that at every month post, but it’s so true!)  So we headed to Colonial Williamsburg to take a few preggo pics.Baby boy is still moving around a lot, which I am enjoying!  Sometimes he jabs me pretty hard though.  “He’s gonna be a soccer player, he is”  <—Anyone know the movie??  There was a day or two around 28 weeks where he didn’t move as much and I sort of freaked out, but God has answered prayers and now he moves all the time :)  I like it much better that way!  I hear it’s common for them to slow down some around then, so Luke was comforting me with that.

Well we signed up for Childbirth Classes but due to the TX trip I’m going on next week, we’ll be taking them Nov. 16 to Dec. 7….talk about cutting it close!!  Now I’m praying that he won’t come early so I can be “prepared” from the classes :)  We also have Infant Care Classes coming up in Nov.  So hopefully by the time little man gets here I’ll be a pro at this mommy thing (haha right).

All in all I’m still enjoying being preggo, but can’t wait (or actually can until Dec. 10) to meet our baby boy!!

Consignment Shopping

So the best way to shop for kids is definitely hitting up the consignment sales.  Liz and I went to one at King of Glory Lutheran Church today.  They have it twice a year and it is FULLY stocked!  I was pretty overwhelmed :)  I didn’t really know what I was looking for, but I found some great deals on books!  Liz was shooting for a jogging stroller, but no such luck…maybe in March.  I was hoping for some steals on maternity clothes too, but it seemed like most of the options were from 1995 and size XL (over priced too I thought).

But here we are with what we did find. Isn’t Sam the little poser!  And if you look close, he put his hand on my belly right before the camera took the picture.  OMG, so cute!!  He’s always smiling at me, so I think he knows I’m carrying a soon-to-be friend :)

Pumpkin Picking!

On Saturday after the party, we celebrate the birth of Rachel again!  I love celebrating things :)  We headed over the ferry to Surry and picked pumpkins at College Run Farms.  And of course Luke would go for the mammoth pumpkin as soon as we pulled up…it actually did have a name something like that!He’s so proud :) As you can see, Rachel and I decided to go for the smaller gourds.  I don’t think it’s recommended that preggos carry around mammoth pumpkins.   Have I ever mentioned that Liz & Steve have a little boy, Sam, who could possibly be exactly 1 year older than our little boy??  Well here they are, so cute!  I think Luke is ready for our kiddo to get here and be 10 months so he can play with him.  When Liz didn’t have Sam in the backpack thing, Luke was there to steal him :)And Sam loved the pumpkins….especially eating them (or trying to).Here’s the pumpkin picking gang! And here’s everyone’s stash (minus the small gourds).  I think we made out like a bandit.  The mammoths were only $6!!I don’t remember ever going to a pumpkin patch before, so this was a super fun experience.  Definitely something we will be bringing little man to next year!  Good idea Rachel!

Happy Birthday Rache!

Last Friday night we celebrated Rache’s golden birthday, 26 on the 26th (well we celebrated the night before).  We were super excited and surprised to see the new Goggin family show up (I’m loving their faces as Drew caught them off guard coming into the room). Of course we played our games…here’s our table of Catan: Germany with Laura & Jeni. And here’s the other table playing Puerto Rico (L to R: Liz, Steve, Nathan, Rache, Daniel, Drew…just in case you were wanting a face to go with who I’m always talking about :) ) The Chicas!  (Sara and Kyle left early with their new little one) The Chicos! And the group!What a fun time hanging out with our buddies :)  Oh and I would like everyone to know that I won both Catan and Manhattan (we got 2 games in b/c Puerto Rico is a long one)!  I don’t mean to brag, but after being on such a Catan losing streak, it was nice to win again :)
