We got up this morning and walked down to the Narnia Exposition at the Eaton Center in Montréal.  Unfortunately, when we got there, we found out we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the exhibit.  They even confiscated our camera.  (We were able to grab a couple with Steph’s phone camera though.)

Calvin had a ball with the fake snow near the lamp post.

After that, it was time to go river surfing.  Yes that’s right, river surfing.  I’d never heard of it either.

As it turns out, if you get just the right depth of water with the right shape of rocks, at the appropriate distance from shore, at the right speed, you have yourself a standing wave, my friend.  Some folks in Montréal have found one, and there’s a surf shop nearby where you can rent boards.

Calvin thoroughly enjoyed my helmet…

First of all, here’s what it’s supposed to look like

And here’s what I looked like.  Believe it or not, I was able to consistently ride it on my knees on the last run of the day.   But by that time, Stephanie had already gone to the car with the video camera.

River surfing was definitely the most fun I’ve had on the trip so far, even if I didn’t quite get the hang of it in one day.

After I’d had my fill of waves, it was time to say goodbye to Montréal, hop in the car and head on down to Ontario.  We’re back in English speaking land now, which is nice.  According to Wikipedia, Québec’s official language is French, while in every other province it’s English.  Not quite sure why though…
