Our First Texas Visitors!

So we finally had some Texas visitors!! (other than our Texas friends James & Sherrie that now live in Charlottesville of course) Fur fur and Bethers came to hang out with us for a couple of days this week. It started out kind of hectic with it snowing in Texas and delaying their flight to New York and then it raining in Virginia and it canceling their flight to Richmond. But they eventually got to our house after spending some days in crazy crowded New York.

We had a lot of fun going around Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. We definitely learned a lot (and did a lot of shopping!).

Fur fur got a new camera for Christmas so she took all the pictures, I'll post some once I get them from her :)

We were sad to see them go, but we leave Saturday morning bright and early for our drive to Texas for Christmas!

Williamsburg Grand Illumination!

For the past 73 years, Colonial Williamsburg lights up the sky with a grand firework show (actually there are 3 shows throughout CW). Our friends James and Sherrie joined us from Charlottesville!





It was packed out and very cold! Our car temperature thing said it was 34 out, but Sherrie and I know it was at least -10 (according to our frostbitten toes). Next year I'll wear my ski outfit :)

Poor Gil

Well we had a tragedy strike our family yesterday. Our cute little fish Gilbert has died. I think Luke poisoned him, he was always jealous of my love for Gil. Well we had Gil for over 2 years. Most people thought he was dead every time they saw him. I think he was just playing dead because he was shy. But now he really is dead...I will miss him.

Thanksgiving in Tennessee

So we got to spend TG (that's for you Lunsford) in TN with Luke's aunt, uncle, and cousins. It was a lot of fun. I was glad to get to spend some time with them because I saw them for 5 minutes at the wedding and you can't build a relationship with that kind of time :)

Danny, Luke's youngest male cousin, has a love for board games, so of course he's cool in my book. We spent most of the time playing some. The games included Electronic Monopoly, Skip Bo, Dominoes, Pit, Scotland Yard, Blokus, Apples to Apples, Sequence, Risk and of course Settlers of Catan. Catan seems to be Danny's new favorite game, which makes Luke happy because he's obsessed with it.

It was a hard TG for me though, the first one I didn't see any of my family. I was a little sad, but it was fun getting to celebrate with the Tennessee Morrisons :)

The best Sci-Fi film of all time

So Tuesday night Luke and I had the privilege of seeing "one of the greatest films ever made" "a simply excellent film" "the best Sci-Fi movie ever"....Harrison Ford in Blade Runner. Our lives are now complete according to the raving reviews on imdb, who gives it an 8.3/10. I guess we should've read the reviews of the people who have minds saying it was "boring" and "a waste of time."

For those of you who don't know, a blade runner is a specialty cop whose job is to kill replicants which are genetically engineered people made to colonize other planets. Four of these replicants came back to earth because they figured out they have fixed lifespans and want to live longer, so they come to have a talking with their maker (however, they are dangerous). Sounds like a good film huh? It got us intrigued. HOWEVER, it is probably the slowest movie I have ever seen. After the first 5 minutes, I was almost falling asleep and asked Luke if he was liking it (he said he thought it was a little boring). We thought we'd give it some time to see when the "action" was going to start, but it never did. Sure there were little action sequences here and there, but majorly boring. Maybe I just don't appreciate good films or whatever, but this is probably the worst movie I have ever seen.

I just can't believe that it got an 8.3/10 when some of my favorite movies like The Count of Monte Cristo, Narnia, Harry Potter, and Enchanted only got 7-something/10. I just don't get it.

A Historic Day In Our Nation's History

Ladies and gentlemen, today is a historic day for our nation and the world as a whole. Never before has a greater man accomplished so much for the greater good. Never before has America been indebted so much to the ingenuity of one man. Our country ought to be united for change in light of this man's contribution.

It was on November 5, 1955, Dr. Emmett L. Brown was hanging a clock while standing on his toilet. The porcelain was wet, and he slipped. He fell and hit his head on the edge of the sink. When he awoke, he had a vision of the flux capacitor. Yes, today is a great day indeed. It is the 53rd anniversary of the flux capacitor.

...and you thought I was going to talk about Obama. :)

Where's Waldo?

Remember those books, Where's Waldo? Well this video is kind of like that, and I'm pretty sure the white kid's name has to be something close to Waldo.



OK, so he's pretty easy to find. He's also constantly looking at the other kids to see what they are doing and can't really keep up with the dance despite his best efforts.

This reminds me of Steve Martin in the Jerk. Regardless, the moral of the story is, white men can't jump or dance vote however you like, and think of these awesome 7th graders when you do so.
